Where To Eat Fancy Vegetables in New York City

Japanese Yam with Sweet Pepper Relish

Where To Eat Fancy Vegetables ~ Omakaseed ~ Vegan restaurant, NYC

My daughter prefers not to eat animals and it was her birthday recently, so we took a stroll down Broadway and came upon Omakaseed where I had been to once or twice before.

Yes, it’s tweezer food, but I am on a diet and short ribs are out this year. Both being vegan/vegetarian-inclined conscious humans who also enjoy cocktails, this was the perfect place for both of us.

Sometimes you just want to go to a restaurant that feels a little special and eat a plate of vegetables that’s more than just a composed salad consisting of a ball-sized head of butter lettuce and a pedestrian ranch dressing. When you’re in that kind of mood, Omakaseed is the place to go.

Smoked Eggplant Nigiri

At Omakaseed, you’ll find plant-based sushi and all kinds of whimsical items made from vegetables—from a savory mushroom latte that’s shockingly delicious to a tomato nigiri that’s a dead-ringer for akami.

We both had the Japanese Yam with Sweet Pepper Relish and the Smoked Eggplant Nigiri with a Feel the Beet (El tesoro blanco tequila, beet juice, agave, ginger syrup, lemon) cocktail.

The food here is inventive, and the menu changes practically every week, making this a great spot for those who enjoy an unswerving surprise.
